Ulcinj police arrested Dilaver Kučević from that city today on suspicion of endangering the safety of Jelena Marković, the leader of the "For a Libertarian Nikšić with Equal Opportunities" list in the upcoming elections in Nikšić.
According to information from Vijesti, Kučević will be brought before the prosecutor for questioning at 21 p.m.
The Police Directorate officially announced that Ulcinj police officers acted following an incident from today's citizens' protest on Mala Plaza in Ulcinj, when an incident occurred during a speech by MP and leader of the Civic Movement URA, Dritan Abazović.
"On that occasion, the injured party, a councilor from the Nikšić parliament JP, according to the report she filed with the police, came out in front of the stage with a banner, after which she noticed that a person was threatening her with hand and body gestures, after which the same person approached her and roughly tore and destroyed the banner she was holding in her hands, which caused a feeling of anxiety and fear in JP. Shortly thereafter, information was collected from the injured party and other persons, after which DK (44) from Ulcinj was identified and brought to the official premises, in order to collect information from him," the statement states.
The Police Directorate added that the prosecutor on duty at the Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Ulcinj was informed of the incident, and on whose order DK was arrested on suspicion of committing the criminal offense of endangering the safety of a person.
"In relation to the entire event, further measures and actions are being taken in cooperation with the prosecutor's office regarding other related persons," the Police Directorate said in a statement.
Marković also announced on the social network X that she had contacted the police and that she had been at today's protest.
