Ulcinj resident Dilaver Kučević (44), who was arrested yesterday on suspicion of endangering the safety of Jelena Marković, the leader of the "For a Libertarian Nikšić of Equal Opportunities" list in the upcoming elections in Nikšić, has been ordered to be detained for up to 72 hours.
The information about Kučević's detention was confirmed to "Vijesti" by the head of the Basic State Prosecutor's Office, Denis Zvrko.
"A decision has been made to detain the suspect DK for 72 hours for the criminal offense of endangering the security of MJ, which occurred during a public gathering in the town of Pristan, Ulcinj Municipality," Zvrka wrote in its response.
Kučević was brought before the prosecutor for questioning last night at 21 pm.
The Police Directorate officially announced yesterday that Ulcinj police officers acted following an incident at a citizen protest on Mala Plaza in Ulcinj, when an incident occurred during a speech by MP and leader of the Civic Movement URA, Dritan Abazović.
"On that occasion, the injured party, a councilor from the Nikšić parliament MJ, according to the report she filed with the police, came out in front of the stage with a banner, after which she noticed that a person was threatening her with hand and body gestures, after which the same person approached her and roughly tore and destroyed the banner she was holding in her hands, which caused MJ to feel anxious and afraid. Shortly thereafter, information was collected from the injured party and other persons, after which DK (44) from Ulcinj was identified and brought to the official premises, in order to collect information from him," the statement states.
The Police Directorate added that the prosecutor on duty at the Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Ulcinj was informed of the incident, and on whose order DK was arrested on suspicion of committing the criminal offense of endangering the safety of a person.
"In relation to the entire event, further measures and actions are being taken in cooperation with the prosecutor's office regarding other related persons," the Police Directorate said in a statement.
Marković also announced on the social network X that she had contacted the police and that she had been at today's protest.
