The Police Directorate announced that five vehicles owned by foreign citizens were damaged in various locations in Nikšić last night.
According to the police, the damage occurred after a rally by the coalition For the Future of Nikšić at Freedom Square in Nikšić.
The Police Directorate announced that their officers in Nikšić are taking comprehensive measures and actions in cooperation with the prosecutor's office to identify the perpetrators and establish the facts regarding these events.
The leader of the list of the coalition For the Future of Nikšić, Marko Kovačević, said earlier today at a press conference in the Parliament of Montenegro that some of the damaged vehicles belonged to Montenegrin citizens.
"In order to prevent these or similar events, the Police Directorate will increase police presence in the coming days and make additional resources available from organizational units, including members of the Special Police Unit, the Crime Prevention Sector and the General Police Sector from headquarters, with the primary goal of ensuring the safety of the citizens of Nikšić, maintaining stable public order and peace, and increasing safety control of road users," the police announced.
They add that they will take all measures and actions to identify persons who, through their destructive actions, caused damage to the property of certain persons, without delay, and that the Police Directorate will act indiscriminately, legally and impartially in all incidents.
"We appeal to citizens to refrain from violence and any form of illegal activity, and to contribute through their personal behavior at all levels to the smooth process of law enforcement and the rule of law in order to maintain a stable social environment, while the Police Directorate will, within its jurisdiction, take preventive, proactive and repressive measures and actions in order to monitor the state of crime trends and maintain public order and peace," the statement reads.
