Criminal charges against 11 people for illegal construction, including construction in a protected area

The police filed 11 criminal charges against the same number of people for illegal construction of buildings.

The Police Directorate announced that the reports were filed as part of planned activities to combat environmental crime, as one of the national priorities.

The Cetinje police, acting on reports from the National Parks of Montenegro that, in the area of ​​several cadastral plots located in the Skadar Lake National Park zone, unknown persons had illegally built several structures made of hard material, identified VS (64) from Podgorica and M.Š. (41) from Cetinje as suspects. They filed criminal charges against them with the Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Cetinje, on suspicion of having committed the criminal offense of constructing a structure without a building permit and construction documentation.

"It is suspected that VS and M.Š. in the previous period, in the town of Rvaši, in the zone of the Skadar Lake National Park, as investors, contrary to the Law on Spatial Planning and Construction of Facilities, on several cadastral plots where construction is prohibited, built or adapted several facilities for which they were unable to obtain a building permit in accordance with the Law," the police announced.

The Bar police filed a criminal complaint with the competent prosecutor's office against DN (27) from that city, on suspicion that during September 2023, by building contrary to the regulations on spatial planning and construction of buildings on a cadastral plot in Novi Bar, he committed the criminal offense of building a building without a building registration and documentation, thereby damaging the state budget by 51.600 euros.

The police in Ulcinj filed a criminal complaint with the local Basic State Prosecutor's Office against MC (74) from that city, on suspicion that he committed the criminal offense of building a structure without a building registration and documentation by building a structure in the Donji Štoj settlement, without a prior building registration and documentation in accordance with the law.

In Berane, police officers filed a criminal complaint with the competent prosecutor's office against BN (48) from that city, on suspicion that he committed the criminal offense of building a building without a building permit and documentation by constructing a three-level residential building with a total area of ​​2.291 square meters in Petnjica, "in the very center of the city," without a prior building permit and documentation.

"During March and April, officers of the Nikšić Security Department, in cooperation with the Urban Planning and Construction Inspection, filed six criminal reports with the Nikšić Prosecutor's Office against six persons on suspicion of illegally building structures in Grahovo," the statement reads.

The Police Directorate announced that they are continuing their activities to identify and prosecute perpetrators of criminal acts, whose actions devastate the environment and cause damage to the state budget.
