Podgorica Interpol, in cooperation with the Budva police, today arrested a Turkish citizen SK (46) convicted of murder in his home country, the Police Directorate (UP) announced.
"Taking measures and actions within the framework of international intelligence cooperation and acting upon a request for international legal assistance from the Republic of Turkey with the aim of locating, detaining and extraditing wanted persons, officers of the Fast Team of the Interpol NCB Podgorica, in cooperation with officers of the Budva Security Department, today in Budva deprived the liberty of Turkish citizen SK (46)," the statement reads.
"SK was deprived of his liberty pursuant to an order of the Higher Court in Podgorica and is being sought to serve a prison sentence of 10 years and 10 months to which he was sentenced for the criminal offense of intentional murder under the Criminal Code of the Republic of Turkey," it added.
The UP said that the SK will be brought before the investigating judge of the High Court in Podgorica within the legal deadline.
