Two Belgrade residents were arrested in a police operation that, they claim, prevented the activities of criminal groups and the commission of the most serious crimes.
The Police Directorate announced that Mihailo Jovanović (28) and Milovan Ćuk (36) were deprived of their liberty.
Jovanović, who was arrested in Budva, was taken to the Pretrial Detention Center, and Ću, who was arrested in Tivat, was expelled from Montenegro.
The police also found several apartments used by these individuals.
In the same investigation, the police found LV (21), a Cetinje resident, connected to Jovanović, in one of the tenement apartments in Buidva, and money, a camera, a car were seized from him...
"Police officers checked the person who at that moment showed an ID card in the name of JJ (29)." from Belgrade, a citizen of the Republic of Serbia. Upon inspection of the document, police officers doubted its authenticity, after which this person was brought to the official premises of the Budva Security Department to determine his real identity. Checks carried out through electronic records determined that it was a forged document, after which this person was identified as MJ (28) from Belgrade," the police announced.
Jovanović is suspected of entering Montenegro illegally – outside border crossings – at the beginning of March.
"Further operational processing determined that MJ, using a forged ID card, concluded a contract to rent an apartment in Budva on behalf of another person, which he did, as suspected, at the behest of a third person from Belgrade whose identity is known to the officers of the Police Directorate, for his needs, and for financial compensation. The suspect MJ is a multiple repeat offender in committing crimes with elements of violence, and crimes in the field of drug abuse, and there is a reasonable suspicion that the timely reaction of police officers prevented further criminal activities in this specific case. MJ was deprived of his liberty by order of the Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Kotor due to reasonable suspicion that he committed the criminal offense of forging a document, and after questioning he was ordered to be detained, after which he was taken to the Directorate for the Execution of Criminal Sanctions."
The police announced that Ćuk, who did not register his stay in Montenegro, was located in Tivat, and who was also determined to be a returnee in the commission of the aforementioned criminal offenses.
"A search was carried out of the rented apartment used by this person, after which, for internal security reasons, the inspector for foreigners issued him a decision on cancellation of residence with a 12-hour deadline to leave the territory of Montenegro, which he did," it was announced.
Continuing the activities of the Budva Security Department, another rented apartment in Budva was located, which was used by LV (21) from Cetinje, who, according to the police, is an operationally interesting person, and whose activities in Budva are linked to Jovanović.
"During a search of the apartment where this person was staying, money in the amount of 11.400 euros, several SIM cards, video surveillance cameras were found and seized, and a passenger motor vehicle was also seized for checks. Members of the Police Directorate, in cooperation with the State Prosecutor's Office, continue to undertake police, prosecutorial and investigative activities in order to determine all circumstances of the stay and activities of the aforementioned persons in the territory of the municipalities of Budva and Tivat in order to raise the level of security, suppress and neutralize the activities of criminal groups," it was announced.
