Montenegrin citizen Aleksandar Ljumović (42) was arrested on an Interpol red notice in Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria.
As announced by the Police Directorate, Ljumović is a member of an organized criminal group.
The NCB Interpol Podgorica issued a red international arrest warrant for Ljumović in order to ensure his presence in criminal proceedings being conducted against him before the High Court in Podgorica on suspicion of having committed four criminal offenses, three of which are the creation of a criminal organization and one is the aggravated murder by aiding and abetting.
"Through intensive months of cooperation between the Targeted Search Team of Montenegro and the partner service of Bulgaria, this high-ranking member of an organized crime group was located and arrested in an elite neighborhood of Sofia. Further communication between the judicial institutions of the law enforcement authorities of Montenegro and Bulgaria will follow, as well as continued communication between the NCB Interpol Podgorica and the NCB Interpol Sofia with the aim of extraditing this person to Montenegro," the police announced.
They add that since the beginning of the year, 18 people have been arrested on the territory of other countries, on international warrants issued by NCB Interpol Podgorica, while members of the Police Directorate in Montenegro have arrested 22 people acting on international warrants.
