Bijelo Polje Police officer Daut Kalač saw Edmir Ramović fire a shot in the center of Rožaje that killed Semir Murić and wounded his colleague Refik Dedeić.
He said this yesterday at the Higher Court in Bijelo Polje, before which Ramović is on trial for the murder of Semir Murić and the wounding of police officer Dedeić, in front of the Basic Court building in Rožaje, almost four years ago. The indictment alleges that on December 21, 2021, in Rožaje, out of reckless revenge for an event that occurred a year earlier, in which the now deceased Semir Murić and several members of his family participated, against whom criminal proceedings are being conducted in the Basic Court in Rožaje for causing bodily harm to close members of the defendant's family.
"I saw Edmir running with a gun in his hand from the direction of the Square towards Vrtić, or rather between the Square and the 'Skala' cafe, and ignoring my orders 'Drop the gun,' 'Drop the gun,' he shot in the direction of a group of people," he said, adding that he did not know at the time who he was shooting at.
Kalač pointed out that he ran up to Ramović and grabbed him by the shoulder on his left side and knocked him face down to the ground, after which his colleague Safet Sinanović ran to his aid.
"While Edmir was downed, the gun was under his body, and he was actively resisting. Then a second shot was fired, and as I later understood, my colleague Dedeić was hit by the projectile. That projectile could have hit me too, because Dedeić was behind me," he said, explaining that he did not think Ramović was aiming at Dedeić.
In relation to his statement that Dedeić was shot at the moment he knelt down to help take down Ramović, defense attorney Drago Konatar reacted, pointing out that the witness's statement about Dedeić's position would be discredited after the presentation of video footage from surveillance cameras.
Dedeić, who testified at the previous hearing, said that he was wounded while running to his colleague.
When the defense insisted that he clarify his statement from the investigation, on which the part of the indictment is based, "that at the moment when the defendant fired the first shot, the group in which Semir was was standing still," the police officer stated that he stood by that statement, explaining that the people in the group did not take any action at that moment.
The attorney for the injured Murić family, lawyer Vidomir Bošković, pointed out that it clearly follows from the witness's testimony that 'Ramović shot Murić at a moment when he was not engaged in any illegal activity'.
Police officer Ruždija Kujević said that after the incident he learned that the gun had been given to Edmir by Fatima Ramović, the wife of Sabar Ramović.
That the scale of the tragedy in front of the courthouse could have been greater is confirmed by the testimony of police officer Nedžad Kuč, who said that after a fight broke out, he pushed Sabr Ramović into the courthouse, and during a search he found a gun and a knife.
Kuč noticed blood on Sabar Ramović's house, as well as on Senad Murić, and his colleague, police officer Kemal Šaljić, also noticed blood on the corner of the victim's father's mouth.
The brothers of the late Semir Saudin and Alan Murić were not eyewitnesses, but they said that Edmir, like the other Ramovićs, repeatedly threatened them and the entire family with death and cursed them, which they repeatedly reported to the police, and that Elsad Ramović openly threatened their father Senad in Berane with the death of his sons, telling him: "I will kill your sons."
Ramović is responding in the Higher Court that he killed his fellow citizen Murić out of ruthless revenge.
From that case, due to the circumstance that the accused may soon be released after three years from the filing of the indictment, the case against Elsan, Salk (51), Ernes and Ernad Ramović, for participating in the fight, as well as against Sabro Ramović (55), who is responsible for illegal possession of weapons, was separated, so that the case will be continued before the Basic Court in Rožaje or Berane.
The trial continues on April 22.
