A request has been filed against a member of the Montenegrin Army, Boris Dragaš (45) from Pljevlja, to initiate misdemeanor proceedings under the Law on the Prevention of Drug Abuse.
The Police Directorate, under its initials, announced that BD was driving an armored BMW X5 owned by NP, who they said was a high-ranking member of an organized crime group from northern Montenegro.
"Vijesti" has been confirmed by several sources that this is the famous basketball player Nikola Peković and that, according to police records, he is a member of the Šarić brothers' criminal group.
According to the same information, there were two other people in that car, one of whom was an employee of the Serbian Ministry of Internal Affairs.
The Police Directorate announced that they searched 11 locations in the north of the country with the same number of people, among whom, as they said, were six persons of operational interest close to members of organized crime groups. The following items were seized: illegally possessed firearms and ammunition, an armored vehicle, a motorcycle, a ballistic vest, marijuana, and opiate pills. Two people were arrested and several misdemeanor charges were filed.
They said that members of the Regional Security Center "North" yesterday carried out planned coordinated activities in several cities in the north, focusing on members of organized crime groups, persons of operational interest and those connected to them, prosecuting perpetrators of criminal offenses and misdemeanors, combating drug abuse, as well as finding and seizing firearms, ammunition and explosives in the illegal possession of citizens.
"In continuation of repressive activities against members of organized crime groups, officers of the Bijelo Polje Security Department conducted a control of a specialized (armored) passenger motor vehicle of the BMW X5 series, Podgorica license plates, owned by NP, a high-ranking member of an organized crime group from northern Montenegro, which was driven by BD (45) from Pljevlja, a member of the Army of Montenegro, at the time of the control. During the search of the vehicle, the following were found and seized: one ballistic vest, a spray with an irritating effect, a knife - razor, an electronic device - a multifunctional detector of listening devices, camera lenses and nine Lexilium tablets. A request was filed against BD to initiate misdemeanor proceedings under the Law on the Prevention of Drug Abuse. The aforementioned vehicle was temporarily seized for further checks," the statement reads.
Slobodan Despotović (45) from Bjelopolje was arrested on suspicion of committing a criminal offense - illegal possession and carrying of weapons and explosives.
During a search of his apartment, an M53 submachine gun, two cartridges for submachine gun ammunition, 95 pieces of ammunition of various types and calibers were found, including one anti-aircraft bullet, a frame from a Crvena zastava M57 pistol, and a detonating cap. A criminal complaint has been filed against him and he will be taken to the prosecutor's office.
The police also searched the apartment and other premises used by Sead Dlakić (45) from Bijelo Polje, who is listed in police records as a person of operational interest.
"A PVC package containing green plant matter resembling the narcotic drug marijuana was found and a request was filed against him to initiate misdemeanor proceedings on suspicion of committing a violation of the Drug Abuse Prevention Act," the statement reads.
Also, during a search of the apartment, other premises and auxiliary facilities used by the person of operational interest Igor Šekularac (41) from Berane, the police found and temporarily seized a red Ducati Superquardo motorcycle for further checks., for which there is suspicion that the chassis number has been manipulated.
A misdemeanor and corresponding administrative proceedings will be initiated against the person of operational interest, Mladen Knežević from Berane, due to violations of the Weapons Act, with the aim of confiscating firearms - two pistols.
Searches were conducted at the residence of two persons of operational interest from Rožaje, Asim Ramusović and Edip Šabović, in relation to whom police officers will initiate administrative proceedings with the competent branch office for administrative affairs in Rožaje with a proposal for the permanent confiscation of firearms - pistols.
Also, the police from Berane arrested Danilo Šoškić (47).
"The Berane police conducted a control of a person of operational interest, D.Š. (47), close to an organized crime group from Berane, who was driving a Volvo vehicle with Berane license plates. During the inspection, a green plant substance resembling the narcotic drug marijuana was found in his vehicle. The named person refused to be tested for the presence of psychoactive substances in his body, after which he was deprived of his liberty for committing a violation under the Road Traffic Safety Act, while a misdemeanor charge will also be filed against him for committing a violation under the Law on the Prevention of Drug Abuse," the statement reads.
The vehicle in question was temporarily seized for further checks in accordance with the law.
"Officers of the Regional Security Center 'North' will indiscriminately and without exception, decisively and transparently take measures and actions aimed at suppressing all forms of crime and continue with intensified repressive activities in the territory of their jurisdiction in order to prevent the commission of criminal offenses and misdemeanors," the police said.
