According to police records, the famous basketball player Nikola Peković is a high-ranking member of the criminal group of Darko and Duško Šarić from Pljevlja, and yesterday the police seized his armored car, which was driven by Montenegrin soldier Boris Dragaš (45).
There were two other Serbian citizens in that car, one of whom is an employee of the local Ministry of Internal Affairs.
The police announced that a request will be filed against Dragash to initiate misdemeanor proceedings under the Law on the Prevention of Drug Abuse.
"In continuation of repressive activities against members of organized crime groups, officers of the Bijelo Polje Security Department conducted a control of a specialized (armored) passenger motor vehicle of the 'BMW' series X5, with Podgorica license plates, owned by NP, a high-ranking member of an organized crime group from northern Montenegro, which was driven by BD (45) from Pljevlja, a member of the Montenegrin Army, at the time of the control," the security institution announced.
They pointed out that during the search of the car, they found and confiscated a ballistic vest, a spray with an irritating effect, a knife - a razor, an electronic device - a multi-functional wiretapping detector, camera lenses and nine "lexilium" tablets.
"A request has been filed against BD to initiate misdemeanor proceedings under the Drug Abuse Prevention Act. The vehicle in question has been temporarily seized for further checks," the Police Directorate said.
The famous Montenegrin basketball player Nikola Peković has been in business with the younger Šarić for years, with whom he is also best man.
Police action
The Police Directorate, without naming names, announced yesterday that on Wednesday, April 16, officers from RCB North carried out planned coordinated activities in several cities in the northern region:
"On this occasion, searches were carried out at 11 locations and on 11 persons, six of whom were operationally interesting persons close to members of organized crime groups, during which illegally possessed firearms and ammunition, an armored vehicle, a motorcycle, a ballistic vest, marijuana, and pills from the list of opiates were seized, two persons were deprived of their liberty, and several misdemeanor charges were filed," the UP said.
They pointed out that after a search of the apartment, Slobodan Despotović (45) from Bjelopolje was arrested, suspected of committing the criminal offense of illegal possession and carrying of weapons and explosives.
They found and confiscated from him - an M53 machine gun, two cartridges for machine gun ammunition, 95 pieces of ammunition of various types and calibers, one of which was an anti-aircraft bullet, a frame from a Crvena Zastava M57 pistol, and one detonating capsule.
In that city, police also searched the apartment of a person of operational interest, Sedo Dlakić (45), in whose possession a PVC package containing green plant matter resembling marijuana was found. He will be charged with a misdemeanor, the police explained.
Drugs and two-wheelers
In Berane, they searched the property of Igor Šekularc (41), who according to their information is also a person of operational interest (OIL), and where a red Ducati Superquardo motorcycle was found and temporarily seized, "for which there is suspicion that the chassis number has been manipulated, for the purpose of conducting further checks."
The police emphasized that they will initiate misdemeanor and appropriate administrative proceedings against OIL Mladen Knežević from Berane, due to violations of the Weapons Act, with the aim of confiscating two pistols.
"Searches were carried out on two persons of operational interest from Rožaje, AR and E. Š., against whom police officers will initiate administrative proceedings with the competent branch for administrative affairs in Rožaje with a proposal for the permanent confiscation of firearms - pistols," the Police Department announced yesterday.
"Vijesti" learned that the suspects are Asim Ramusović and Edip Šabović, and that Danilo Šoškić (47) was controlled and arrested in Berane, who, as they say, is close to an organized crime group from Berane.
He was stopped while driving a Volvo with Berane license plates, and during the check, the police found a substance resembling marijuana.
After refusing to be tested for the presence of psychoactive substances in his body, he was arrested for committing a violation under the Road Traffic Safety Act: "While a misdemeanor charge will also be filed against him for committing a violation under the Drug Abuse Prevention Act. The vehicle in question has been temporarily seized for further checks in accordance with the law," the UP said.
