The Kolasin police arrested a Military Police officer from Podgorica (38) on suspicion of threatening police officers after a traffic patrol caught up with him and determined that he was driving drunk, the Police Directorate (UP) announced today.
"Officers of the Kolašin Security Department arrested ZB (38) from Podgorica, a Military Police officer, who made serious threats to police officers after a traffic patrol, which he was fleeing in his vehicle, caught up with him and after it was determined that he was driving under the influence of alcohol. ZB was not on duty at the time," the UP statement said.
The statement added that on April 16, at around 16.30:XNUMX p.m., in the Bakovići settlement, on the Kolašin - Mojkovac main road, police officers from Kolašin attempted to stop a "VW Golf V" vehicle with Danilovgrad license plates, which was moving from Mojkovac towards Kolašin.
"The driver, however, did not stop at the clear signal given by the police officers with a 'stop' sign, but continued driving the vehicle. The police officers immediately gave chase to the vehicle using light and sound signals, but the driver still did not stop, but turned off the main road towards the village of Plana, intending to escape. A police patrol caught up with him, stopped him and proceeded to control him," the statement reads.
The Police Department said that during the control, the driver of the ZB presented himself to the police as a member of the Military Police of the Army of Montenegro, in an attempt to avoid further police measures and actions.
They said that it was determined that ZB was driving with a blood alcohol level of 1,74 per mille.
"When his attempt was unsuccessful and it became clear to him that he would be deprived of his liberty for a violation of the ZOBS-s, which he was informed about because the breathalyzer test that was then performed determined that he had 1,74 g/kg of alcohol in his body, ZB first began to protest, stating that the police officers had no right to control him, and then to threaten them that they would lose their jobs and that this would not end there, calling on them to engage in a physical confrontation. The police officers then took ZB to the Kolašin Security Department. The person did not resist during the arrest and no means of coercion were used against him," the statement states.
The UP said that the state prosecutor at the Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Kolašin was also informed about the incident, who stated that the ZB proceedings contain essential elements of the criminal offense of assault on an official in the performance of official duty and ordered police officers to arrest him and bring him to her with a criminal report.
"ZB was brought to the Regional Offenses Authority on the same day for an offense under the ZOBS regarding driving under the influence of alcohol, and the judge confirmed the existence of the offense, while stating that he would decide on the punishment later. ZB was brought to the competent prosecutor on April 17.4.2025, XNUMX, where the prosecutor questioned him on suspicion that he had committed the aforementioned criminal offense to the detriment of police officers, after which he was released to defend himself at liberty in further proceedings," the UP said.
