The President of the Bistrica Local Community Council (MZ), Sakib Čindrak, told "Vijesti" that it is a notorious untruth that he threatened death or sent any insults to NGO activist Almer Mekić, and that the report that Mekić filed against him yesterday without any evidence is unfounded and extremely tendentious.
Čindrak explained that at the request and appeal of several locals, he called Mekić to tell him that the citizens were opposed to placing benches next to Bistrica, because that was practically the only parking space in front of the chapel in Bistrica.
Namely, Mekić's non-governmental organization (NGO) Euromost planned to organize, in cooperation with the Municipality of Bijelo Polje and the Public Utilities Company, a section along the Bistrica River and place the aforementioned benches on the shore, in anticipation of the celebration of April 22nd - Earth Day.
"At the request of the locals, but also as someone who does not divide people by religion and nationality, I believe that I reacted justifiably, because in my opinion it is absolutely unacceptable that a green area and benches be created on a site that has so far been used as the only parking space for the chapel," said Čindrak, adding that all Bistrita residents agree with this.
Čindrak pointed out that he reacted to the initiative of representatives of the church board and the locals who use the chapel, who are of the Orthodox faith.
"They all expressed their dissatisfaction that the space that had served as a parking lot for the chapel for years was now being turned into a green space. Their position was clear and as their representative, I had an obligation to engage in this discussion," he said.
Čindrak also emphasized that he has nothing against the activities of the NGO Euromost, and that he is also committed to environmental protection, and that in this area along the Bistrica River there are a large number of locations where the planned project could be implemented, but in accordance with the positive regulations of the state of Montenegro.
He emphasized that Mekić's obvious intention was to discredit him and tarnish his family's undisputed reputation, but that he was certain that everyone knew who was who in Bijelo Polje and what everyone was doing and in whose interest.
He is particularly unhappy that Mekić compared him to Alija Balijagić, a suspect in a double murder, which he finds incomprehensible.
"This comparison is catastrophic and shameful, because it attempts to discredit both our family's reputation and our hard work and honest work. It is obvious that this is a corrupt campaign aimed at throwing me and my family into a public discourse that has nothing to do with the truth," Čindrak added.
He called on the authorities from the local government and the Municipal Company to speak out on this issue, so that the entire public can be convinced of the correctness of his views and those of the residents of Bistrica.
Alija Balijagić is suspected of killing his brother and sister - Jovan (25) and Milenko Madžgalj (60) - with a hunting rifle shot in their home on October 69th last year in the Bijelo Polje hamlet of Sokoloac.
On March 20 this year, during a hearing before the prosecutor of the Higher State Prosecutor's Office (VDT) in Bijelo Polje, Vanja Rakonjac, Balijagić admitted that he killed Madžgalje.
