A Bjelo Polje resident, EC (21), while intoxicated, demolished the ramp at the entrance to the city garage in Bijelo Polje last night, one hour after midnight.
According to information provided to "Vijesti" from sources close to the police, EC, after completely destroying the ramp in the presence of several young men, walked away from the scene, but was identified and arrested after reviewing video footage from security cameras.
These allegations were confirmed to "Vijesti" by the Basic State Prosecutor's Office, upon whose orders officers from the Security Department (OB) in Bijelo Polje conducted an on-site investigation.
"The Basic State Prosecutor's Office has ordered officers of the Bijelo Polje Police Station to file criminal charges against EC, on suspicion that he committed the criminal offense of destruction and damage to another person's property," the ODT told "Vijesti".
After being found in Rasovo, EC was, as stated by the ODT, detained and questioned at the Bijelo Polje Police Station as a citizen, after which he was released. The Director of the Parking Service Ismar Ćorović said that the perpetrator tried to avoid responsibility, but that he was soon identified and detained.
"The ramp was completely destroyed, which led to damage to the entire system, which is why the exit is currently not functional," said Ćorović, adding that repairs will take place on Tuesday, due to the holiday.
He explained that this time, security cameras installed within the garage recorded the moment when the young man approached the ramp and violently destroyed it.
"Unfortunately, a similar incident occurred two years ago, when a parking payment machine was demolished, but the perpetrator of the damage, the value of which exceeds 5.000 euros, has not been found to this day," said Ćorović.
