Danilo Mandić did not participate in the commission of any criminal offense, especially not a criminal offense involving the use of firearms, and especially not using any vehicle, especially an official one.
This was told to Vijesti by his defense attorney, lawyer Miroje Jovanović, stating that this can be unequivocally established from all the evidence collected so far, against his "innocently suspected client Danilo Mandić".
"It can be unequivocally established that on April 19th he did not participate in the commission of any criminal offense, especially not a criminal offense involving the use of firearms, especially not using any vehicle, especially not an official vehicle. Therefore, I ask everyone to first carefully read the case files, witness statements, as well as the medical documentation in the file," he said.
He pointed out that after today's and yesterday's hearings, it became clear why an on-site investigation was not conducted:
"Because there were no traces at the scene, and since there were no traces at the scene, no event, especially not an event in which there was some alleged bloody showdown, ever occurred. So, the police did not make a mistake in not conducting an on-site investigation, because an on-site investigation is not conducted when there is no trace at the scene of the alleged crime."
He appealed to the courts to carefully examine all witness statements that support the defense's thesis, which they have been advocating from the beginning.
Mandić is suspected of the attempted murder of two Podgorica residents, Darko Perović and Aris Turković, who did not join the criminal prosecution of Mandić during their hearing at the Higher State Prosecutor's Office today.
Perović said that Mandić did not shoot at him, but rather that it was the shortest of three younger guys, no more than 23 to 25 years old, who had previously "flashed" him at the traffic light.
He also claimed that he had suffered threats and blackmail from the police to accuse Mandić of wounding him.
The Police Directorate announced that they would file criminal charges against Perović for making a false report.
Turković told the prosecutor today that he does not remember a single detail of the events of April 19 at dawn, when he was wounded, and that he only saw the injury when he woke up at home, but that he does not know how it occurred.
