The Higher State Prosecutor's Office in Bijelo Polje has ordered the detention of two suspects for up to 72 hours for the criminal offense of unauthorized production, possession and distribution of narcotic drugs.
The Bijelo Polje Higher State Prosecutor's Office said that, on their orders, officers from the Crime Prevention Sector - Drug Enforcement Department, in cooperation with the regional centers "North", "West" and "Center", arrested MR from Pljevlja and M.Đ. from Podgorica.
"After the hearing, the state prosecutor on duty ordered the suspects MR and M.Đ. to be detained for 72 hours from the time of their arrest," the statement said.
It is alleged that criminal charges have been filed against two other individuals - MP and AK, who are serving prison sentences.
"Against MP due to reasonable suspicion that he committed the criminal offense of unauthorized production, possession and distribution of narcotic drugs in incitement and against AK, due to reasonable suspicion that he committed the criminal offense of unauthorized production, possession and distribution of narcotic drugs," the statement added.
The Higher State Prosecutor's Office in Bjelo Polje said that the criminal report and attachments show that on October 16, 2023, MR incited DD to commit the criminal offense of unauthorized production, possession and distribution of narcotic drugs.
He did this, they added, by establishing communication with DD regarding the takeover and transport of hemp on the Podgorica - Prijepolje route, which DD, in the amount of 21.579,08 grams, packaged in 22 PVC foil packages, was illegally transporting in a freight vehicle for sale.
The prosecutor's office said that he was then checked by police officers in the municipality of Kolašin and the specified drugs were seized on that occasion.
As they stated, DD was found guilty of that criminal offense and sentenced to two years and two months in prison.
"Also, from the criminal report and its attachments, it appears that the suspect M.Đ. today illegally possessed heroin, packaged in five PVC packages, cocaine, packaged in seven PVC packages and one glass jar, as well as three scales for precise measurement, for the purpose of sale," the statement says.
It is alleged that these items were found and seized by police officers during a search of the house and outbuildings where the suspect resides.
"The investigation is ongoing, during which MP and AK will be questioned as suspects," the statement added.
