Border Police Sector officers, in cooperation with Customs Administration officers, arrested two Turkish citizens TC (27) and EK (29) who are suspected of attempting to smuggle MA (19), also a Turkish citizen, while criminal charges have been filed against Russian citizen ARZ (37) on suspicion of forging documents, the Police Administration (UP) announced.
"Officers of the Border Police Sector, in cooperation with officers of the Customs Administration, while undertaking activities to detect, prevent and suppress cross-border crime, at two border crossings, Božaj Border Crossing Point and Dračenovac Border Crossing Point, discovered human smuggling committed by two individuals hiding a third person in a vehicle, while in separate activities, border police officers processed a person with a forged document," the statement reads.
"On this occasion, two persons who smuggled a third person at the Božaj Border Crossing were deprived of their liberty, while a criminal complaint was filed against the person who used a forged document at the Dračenovac Border Crossing. These are foreign citizens, and these criminal acts were committed during an attempt to enter Montenegro. Namely, last night, 25.04.2026, at around 20,50 at the Božaj border crossing, border police officers checked TC (27), who was driving a VW Polo with Montenegrin license plates, and EK (29), a passenger in the vehicle, a Turkish citizen with temporary residence in Montenegro. During the inspection of the vehicle, which was carried out by officers of the Border Police Station together with an officer of the Customs Administration, a young male person was found hidden in the luggage compartment covered with a blanket. Police and customs officers took the person out of the luggage compartment and brought him to the official premises at the border crossing. "at the border crossing, and then, by examining, or finding, a travel document, they established that the person in question was MA (19), also a Turkish citizen," it is stated.
The UP said that further checks determined that M. A, on the same day, at around 15 p.m., during a check at the same border crossing, at the exit from Montenegro, was issued a misdemeanor order by a border police officer pursuant to the Law on Foreigners because he did not register his residence within the legal deadline after entering the country, after which MA left the territory of Montenegro.
"However, later on the same day, at around 17.00:XNUMX p.m., he attempted to enter Montenegro through the Sukobin Border Crossing Point, during which he was not allowed to return to our country and was then issued a decision banning entry into Montenegro, which ban was entered into his travel document. Due to the impossibility of returning to Montenegro, TC and EK are suspected of attempting to smuggle MA into Montenegro that same evening, hidden in the trunk of a vehicle. The state prosecutor at the Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Podgorica was informed of all of the above, who ordered that information be collected from these three persons, after which the state prosecutor declared that TC and EK were to be deprived of their liberty on suspicion of having committed the criminal offense of illegal crossing of the state border and human smuggling. They were brought before the competent prosecutor today, with a criminal complaint, while MA was allowed to continue his movement with the obligation to report to the state prosecutor's office. The vehicle used in the commission of the criminal offense was temporarily seized," the statement says.
At the Dračenovac border crossing, a Russian citizen, ARZ (37), was stopped while entering Montenegro, driving a Toyota Yaris with foreign license plates.
"On that occasion, this person presented the border police officers with a driver's license whose authenticity the police officers suspected, and which stated that it was issued by the Russian Federation, with a validity period until May 11.05, 2030," the statement reads.
"During the criminal investigation of the ARZ person in the police premises, a statement was taken from the citizen, in which this person stated that he had purchased the aforementioned forged document before leaving for the trip, through an application, for the amount of 200 euros. The state prosecutor at the Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Podgorica was notified of the event, who ordered that criminal charges be filed against this person due to reasonable suspicion that he had committed the criminal offense of forging a document," it is stated.
"Officers of the Border Police Sector continue their activities aimed at detecting and preventing all forms of cross-border crime and increasing the security of state borders, citizens and travelers," the UP said.
