Border Police Sector officers seized a high-class vehicle with German license plates in Podgorica, which is wanted by Interpol Wiesbaden, the Police Directorate announced.
It is stated that the BMW 850i series vehicle was seized from Podgorica resident EK(30) and handed over to the Podgorica police officers for further investigation in coordination with the Basic State Prosecutor's Office.
The Police Directorate announced that border police officers have also filed criminal charges against five people for illicit trafficking.
The statement states that border police officers on the Zeta - Podgorica road controlled a Citroen C4 vehicle, driven by LP (60), while the passengers in the vehicle were DP (60) and GP (67), Albanian citizens with permanent residence in Montenegro.
"52 packs of cut tobacco, 66 packs of cigarettes of various brands without excise stamps and with Kosovo excise stamps, as well as five packs of handmade cigarettes were found and seized in the vehicle," the police statement said.
It is added that LP, DP and GP were questioned by order of the state prosecutor at the Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Podgorica and criminal charges were filed against them on suspicion of committing the criminal offense of illicit trafficking.
As announced, Nikšić police officers filed criminal charges against VT (60) and VD (55) for the same criminal offense.
The police said that their officers searched the stalls, apartment and other premises used by VT and seized five kilograms of cut tobacco.
It is stated that a check of the counter used by VD resulted in the discovery of seven kilograms of cut tobacco, which was temporarily confiscated.
