Podgorica police arrested NO (41), who was reported by her ex-husband for alleged physical assault, and confiscated a gun from her, for which she did not have a firearms license.
The Police Directorate announced that NO's ex-husband filed a report with the Podgorica Security Department against him for a physical attack.
The police explained that the man stated in the report that NO owns a weapon, which he said was a pistol that belonged to her late father, and that he fears for his safety because of this.
"Police officers acted upon the report of the injured party and conducted searches of apartments and other premises at two locations. In one of these two searches, a 'Zastava' pistol, cal. 9 mm, with two empty frames and 81 rounds of ammunition of unknown caliber were found in the apartment, which were confiscated with a certificate. A statement was taken from NO at the police premises for the record collected from the citizen, in which she stated that the weapon in question belonged to her father, that she had not transferred the weapon to her name, and that she did not possess an expired firearms license that was in her father's name," the police announced.
The State Prosecutor at the Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Podgorica stated that NO's actions constitute essential elements of the criminal offense of illegal possession and carrying of weapons and explosives and ordered that NO be deprived of his liberty and brought before her with a criminal complaint.
