The investigating judge of the Higher Court in Bijelo Polje ordered the detention of up to 30 days for JM (35) from Gusin, suspected of human trafficking, Vijesti learned from the Higher State Prosecutor's Office in Bijelo Polje.
The report against JM was filed by the Berane Security Department.
As previously announced by the Police Directorate, police officers from the Regional Security Center "North" through coordinated intensive field activities came to know about and prosecuted a person named JM (35) from Gusinje, suspected of human trafficking.
"He committed the criminal offense he is charged with by misleading the injured party, who was in a difficult financial situation, and bringing her to Gusinje in his vehicle, with the promise that she would be employed in a catering facility," the police statement reads.
As stated by the police, upon arrival in Gusinje that day, the injured party was detained in the suspect's house, and the next day he performed work in a catering facility in Gusinje without compensation, as well as maintenance work in Bijelo Polje, also without compensation.
"In addition, the suspect, the following day, for failing to fulfill the imposed obligations, inflicted several blows on the injured party's head and body, causing the injured party to lose consciousness and she was provided with medical assistance in Berane, where she was found to have injuries to her head and body. The police searched premises in the municipalities of Bijelo Polje and Gusinje, and JM was brought to official premises where he was tested for the presence of narcotics and it was determined that he tested positive for the narcotic drug cocaine," the police statement states.
