The Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Bijelo Polje, after questioning, ordered the detention of suspect DS (72) from Aleksandrovac for up to 22 hours. He is suspected of stalking a minor from that town.
The Bijelo Polje Security Department submitted a criminal report to the prosecutor's office today.
"It follows from the criminal report and the attachments to it that the suspect DS stalked the injured minor from Bijelo Polje via the social network 'Instagram', by sending her disturbing messages, following and intercepting her for a long period of time, trying to establish contact with her, which caused the injured party to feel fear for her safety," the ODT announced.
Police said that two mobile phones were temporarily confiscated from the suspect.
"Taking measures and actions to protect the integrity and personal safety of the injured party who filed the report, officers of the Regional Security Center 'North' - Security Department Bijelo Polje deprived a Serbian citizen of his liberty on suspicion of committing the criminal offense of stalking a minor female person from Bijelo Polje.
"DS (22) from Aleksandrovac was deprived of his liberty in Bijelo Polje on suspicion that he had been stalking the injured party, whom he met through social media and with whom he had previously communicated, for a long time, sending her insults and threats through social media, as well as abusing photos that the injured party had forwarded to him," the Police Directorate announced.
The police added that their officers will act decisively, without delay and with special care and take all necessary measures and actions to protect the victims, taking into account the best interests of minors, and prosecute the perpetrators of these crimes.
