Police officers conducted searches at 27 locations in the southern, central and northern regions of the country and seized 24 weapons, 335 rounds of ammunition, two knives, 36 opiate pills, as well as around 115 grams of narcotics, the Police Directorate (PD) announced today.
The security institution said they did this "to suppress violence, preserve public order, protect the safety of all citizens, as well as to find weapons and narcotics among members of organized criminal groups, those of operational interest, those close to them, as well as persons whose behavior may endanger the security environment."
"In the territory under the jurisdiction of the Regional Security Center 'Centar', the police conducted searches at five locations, and officers of the Cetinje Security Department during searches at two locations found an SP pistol on the person, and an NP pistol with a bullet in the barrel and an air rifle. A misdemeanor report was filed against one person under the Weapons Act, while in relation to the found pistol with a bullet in the barrel and the air rifle, the prosecutor will qualify the offense after an expert examination," the statement states.

The Police Department added that searches were carried out at three locations within the jurisdiction of the Podgorica Security Department, and that on that occasion, two pistols, 57 rounds of ammunition of various types and calibers, a pen pistol, and a revolver were found in DU's possession, while at another location in Bar, a small-caliber rifle with five rounds of ammunition was found in the possession of the same person.
"In addition, a small amount of the narcotic drug marijuana and 19 pills from the list of opiates were found in this person's possession in Podgorica, in relation to which event the prosecutor will later make a statement. DU was deprived of liberty on suspicion of committing the criminal offense of illegal possession and carrying of weapons and explosives," the statement reads.
The UP said that a search of the premises used by NR found a small amount of marijuana, as well as a small amount of cocaine, 11 Xanax tablets, a so-called crusher and a scale for precise measurement.
"A misdemeanor charge will be filed against him for violations of the Drug Abuse Prevention Act," the UP said.
They state that the police in Podgorica also searched MR's home, and that criminal charges will be filed against him for a criminal offense in the area of property crime.
"In the territory of the jurisdiction of the Regional Security Center 'North', the police conducted searches at 11 locations and in Berane, they found six pills from the list of opiates and one military knife - bayonet in the possession of VM, and a pistol, two hunting rifles and two air rifles in the possession of LJ, as well as 159 pieces of ammunition of various types and calibers, and several pieces of various additional equipment. A request will be filed against VM, VM's father, to initiate misdemeanor proceedings for misuse of weapons, while LJ will be issued a misdemeanor warrant in accordance with the Law on Weapons, and a criminal report will be filed against his father SJ (due to ammunition), on suspicion of having committed the criminal offense of illegal possession and carrying of weapons and explosives. Also, during a search of the apartment and other premises used by JJ in Berane, a pistol in illegal possession and a hunting knife were found. The qualification of the offense by the competent prosecutor will be carried out after appropriate expert examinations," the statement reads.
The UP said that the Bijelo Polje police found and confiscated a small amount of marijuana from SV and that a misdemeanor charge would be filed against him for a violation of the Weapons Act.
They added that 64 rounds of ammunition were found on AB and he will be issued a misdemeanor warrant pursuant to the Weapons Act.
"The police found a hunting rifle on MJ's person, and criminal charges will be filed against him on suspicion of committing the criminal offense of illegal possession and carrying of weapons and explosives," the UP said.
The security institution said that officers from the Regional Security Center "South" conducted searches at 11 locations and found and confiscated five rifles and 17 rounds of ammunition in Tivat, and three gas pistols, 33 rounds of ammunition, about 90 grams of marijuana, as well as a smaller amount of a substance suspected to be cocaine, in Kotor.
"On the territory of Ulcinj, the police found and seized a starting pistol, while in Budva over 12 grams of the narcotic drug cocaine were found and seized, and the person in whose possession the drugs were found was deprived of his liberty on suspicion of committing the criminal offense of unauthorized production, possession and distribution of narcotic drugs. The prosecutor will make a statement regarding the other items found - weapons, ammunition and drugs - at a later date," the UP said.
