After the hearing, the investigating judge of the Higher Court in Podgorica, Suzana Mugoša, ordered the detention of up to 30 days for Podgorica resident Marko Martinović, suspected of committing the criminal offense of robbery by aiding and abetting.
Martinović was arrested on May 19th and is suspected of a robbery committed three days earlier at a jewelry store in the center of the capital.
His defense attorney, attorney Željko Đukanović, told Vijesti that Martinović was detained on the grounds of detention under Article 175, points 1, 2 and 3, namely due to the risk of flight, influence on witnesses and repetition of the criminal offense.

"During the hearing with the investigating judge, the defendant denied having any connection with the commission of this criminal offense. Also, we, as the defense, emphasized the fact that, based on the evidence available so far, that is, the evidentiary material presented to us, Martinović Marko has not been linked to the commission of the criminal offense in question, even to the level of reasonable suspicion, and all this because, as presented to the prosecutor, his role in the commission of this criminal offense is completely unclear. It is clear that he did not participate directly in the commission of the criminal offense, this was also confirmed to us by the prosecution, but it remains unclear how and in what way he is linked to the commission of this criminal offense," said Đukanović.
He added that they believe that detention is unfounded and explained why Martinović was ordered to be detained on three grounds - due to the size of the threatened sentence, because it is necessary to question those who were in the jewelry store when it was robbed and other witnesses, and also because of his previous convictions.
He announced that the defense would appeal the court's decision.
