The investigating judge of the Basic Court in Kotor today ordered house arrest for an alleged member of an organized crime group (OKG), Ilija Racanović.
The Police Directorate (UP) announced yesterday that Racanović was arrested in Budva after police found a pistol with a bullet in the barrel and eight more bullets in the chamber.
In today's press release, the Police Department states that Budva police officers this morning brought Racanović to the investigative judge of the Basic Court in Kotor, who, at the proposal of the competent state prosecutor, imposed a ban on him from leaving the apartment.
"The IR person, we remind you, was deprived of his liberty on May 23.05.2025, XNUMX, in continuation of intensified measures and activities aimed at controlling operationally interesting persons and members of organized crime groups, preventing and suppressing criminal offenses and violence, and finding weapons in illegal possession. On that occasion, members of the Regional Security Center 'South' - Budva Security Department, during a targeted control of several members of an organized crime group, found a firearm in illegal possession - a Beretta pistol with a bullet in the barrel, as well as eight pieces of ammunition in the frame," the UP statement states.
The statement states that, in addition to Racanović, during this activity, police officers in Budva, in a targeted control of a catering facility, controlled three more people, "members of an organized criminal group and persons associated with them: KR (33) from Podgorica, Ž.K. (25) from Cetinje and NP (26) from Cetinje, while within the same targeted activities, PP (18) from Budva, a person who closely cooperates with persons of operational interest and members of organized criminal groups, was controlled near the facility."
"As part of the same activities, two vehicles were seized from the aforementioned persons for further checks. Yesterday, on May 24.05.2025, 72, IR was brought before the competent state prosecutor at the Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Kotor, on suspicion of committing the criminal offense of illegal possession and carrying of weapons and explosives. The competent state prosecutor issued a decision ordering his detention for up to XNUMX hours, until he is brought before the investigating judge," the UP said.
The institution also stated that in February 2025, Racanović was arrested in Pljevlja with four other members of an organized crime group when two pistols with milled factory numbers were found in their possession.
