Ilija Racanović (35) from Budva has been remanded in custody after violating his house arrest twice in the last 24 hours, Vijesti has learned.
According to available information, Racanović was ordered to be placed under house arrest yesterday, but the police did not find him at the address where he was required to reside during the duration of that measure, either last night or today.
He was arrested on May 23 in Budva, and two days later the Kotor prosecutor proposed to the court that he be placed under supervision. Racanović, allegedly a member of the Kavak criminal clan, was arrested after police found a gun with a bullet in the barrel.
Based on the prosecutor's proposal, the investigating judge of the Basic Court in Kotor ordered him to be placed under house arrest yesterday.
During last night's and today's checks, the police determined that Racanović was not in the apartment, which immediately notified the Kotor court and prosecutor's office.
At the proposal of the prosecution, investigative judge Špiro Pavicevic issued a decision ordering Racanovic to be detained for up to 30 days.
"At the prosecutor's proposal, he was ordered to be detained on two grounds - due to the risk of flight and the possibility of repeating the criminal offense. The proposal was submitted because during the check, on two occasions, he was not found at the address, thus violating the measure imposed the day before," the spokesperson for the Basic Court in Kotor, Judge Veljko Bulatović, told Vijesti.
The Police Directorate announced yesterday that Racanović is a repeat offender in the area of illegal possession of weapons...
In addition to three days ago in Budva, he was also arrested in February 2025 in Pljevlja with four members of an organized crime group, when two firearms, pistols with milled factory numbers, were found in their possession.
