Bijelo Polje police officers filed a criminal complaint against Š.M., suspected of forest theft, the Police Directorate announced.
"Š.M. is suspected of illegally cutting down a certain number of beech trees in a state-owned forest, in the Lozna management unit, without a permit or approval, and thus causing damage to the state budget," the police statement said.
It is stated that the officers of the Police Directorate, in coordination with other state bodies, continue with intensive activities in the fight against environmental crime and corruption as defined national priorities.
"As well as preventing illegal logging, finding and prosecuting perpetrators of criminal acts, preserving and preventing further devastation of Montenegro's natural resources," the statement added.
