Border police officers conducted searches at two locations in Nikšić and seized firearms and ammunition from Nikšić resident BB, the Police Directorate announced.
It is alleged that police officers, acting on a court order and based on operational information, searched two houses and auxiliary buildings used by BB.
"A hunting and semi-automatic rifle, a starter pistol with a frame, three frames for an automatic rifle, and 38 rounds of ammunition of various types and calibers, for which BB did not possess the necessary documentation, were found and temporarily seized," the police said.
They said that the state prosecutor at the Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Nikšić has been informed of the incident, and that, after conducting appropriate expert assessments and additional checks, he will make a statement on the possible legal qualification of the act.
"Officers of the Border Police Sector continue to carry out intensive preventive and repressive activities aimed at identifying, suppressing and preventing all forms of illegal activity with the aim of improving the overall security environment, protecting the lives of citizens and strengthening the rule of law," the statement said.
