Democrats: It's not surprising that someone from Marković's list was arrested for robbery

Democratic Montenegro assessed that it was not surprising that a person from the election list of Duško Marković's Party of European Progress was arrested for robbery.

"Vijesti" announced tonight that Nikola Čvorović, the leader of the SEP list in the last local elections in Nikšić, was arrested on suspicion that he, along with two other people, beat up a person in the Podgorica neighborhood of Zabjelo and then stole his purse.

"According to media reports, the police department today deprived the head of the Nikšić electoral list of the party whose president is the former prime minister and head of the security sector, Duško Marković, of his liberty. The reason: suspicion of robbery. And this, in itself, would not deserve political comment, because we have never used it against anyone, if it were not for a man who, day after day, tried to discredit the security sector, simply because it is no longer controlled from the same center from which it was built for decades. But life, like justice, is inexorable," the Democrats announced.

While, as they say, Marković tried to present himself as a guarantor of stability, "it turns out that the environment he was building symbolized the opposite: people ready for violence and confrontation."

"Because it's not a problem that someone from his list was arrested for robbery. He could have been from any other list. The problem is that it's not a surprise. The problem is that, under his leadership, a culture was created in which the services were a shield not for citizens, but for crime. The problem is that every one of his attacks on the security sector was a reflex of personal panic, because he is no longer the boss of what he knew how to abuse, but did not know how to build. The simple truth is, whoever built the security sector for years to the measure of the party and the scheme, today is afraid of the police to the measure of the law. And that is the best proof that things are getting better," the statement reads.
