Čvorović ordered to be detained, already convicted of violence

The Higher State Prosecutor's Office in Podgorica has ordered the detention of Nikola Čvorović for up to 72 hours, who was arrested yesterday on suspicion that he, along with two other people, beat up a person in the Zabjelo neighborhood of Podgorica and then stole his purse, "Vijesti" has learned unofficially.

Čvorović, the leader of the Party of European Progress list in the last elections in Nikšić, is suspected of beating the injured party BS last night with two unknown persons, and with one of them stealing a purse from the car containing a wallet, keys and mobile phone.

The prosecution will ask the investigating judge to order Čvorović to be detained for up to 30 days due to the risk of flight, among other things because he has a company in France, but also due to repeated offenses, as he has already been convicted of violence.

Čvorović's defense attorney, attorney Srđan Vuković, did not want to comment on the case.

The Police Directorate announced last night that they had undertaken intensive activities within their jurisdiction to shed light on the event, which they had informed the prosecutor at the Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Podgorica, who qualified the criminal offense as robbery and on whose order Čvorović was arrested.
