Officers of the Security Department (SB) of Berane filed a criminal complaint against fellow citizen Ž.M. (62), in whose possession cigarettes with Kosovo excise stamps were found, the Police Directorate announced.
The police said that their officers, acting on operational information, checked the car driven by Ž.M., a repeat offender in the field of economic crime.
"On that occasion, 140 packs of cigarettes of various brands, with Kosovo excise stamps, were found and seized," the statement said.
It is stated that the state prosecutor at the Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Berane was informed of the incident, and on his order, criminal charges were filed against Ž.M. on suspicion of committing the criminal offense of illicit trafficking.
The police said that from January 1st to today, officers from the Berane Police Department have seized 1.588 packs of cigarettes and 42 kilograms of cut tobacco, worth a total of around four thousand euros, and have filed six criminal charges for the crime of illicit trade.
