The investigating judge of the Kotor Basic Court, Špiro Pavicevic, ordered the detention of up to 30 days for the police inspector of the Budva Security Department, Miljan Petrić, who is charged with the criminal offense of abuse of official position.
The court's spokesperson, Judge Veljko Bulatović, confirmed to "Vijesti" that the defendant MP was remanded in custody and sent to the Supka Remand Prison.
As "Vijesti" was told, Judge Pavićević heard the defendant in the presence of the defense attorney and accepted the prosecutor's proposal and ordered detention.
As a reminder, the day before yesterday, police arrested police crime inspector Miljan Petrić and two other people in Budva, whom they suspect of committing the criminal act of abuse of official position, to the detriment of a Turkish citizen.
The Police Directorate (UP) officially announced that the Budva police arrested three people, one of whom is a police officer from the Budva Security Department.
"Namely, MP (30), a police officer employed in the Budva Security Department, was deprived of his liberty on suspicion of committing the criminal offense of abuse of official position, while DD (19) and PP, a person close to an organized criminal group, were deprived of their liberty on suspicion of committing the criminal offense of abuse of official position by aiding and abetting," the statement said.
The UP added that it is suspected that on June 7, 2025, while performing his official duty, police officer MP obtained a material benefit of 1.500 euros by illegally abusing his official position.
"He did this by taking official action against AE (34), a Turkish citizen, who was being prosecuted on suspicion of committing the crime of theft, on the same day, demanding that he pay him 2.000 euros, with the promise that he would assist him as an official in suspending the criminal proceedings against him, which the injured party AE accepted. After that, in agreement with the Prosecutor's Office and receiving instructions from the latter, the suspects PP and DD arrived by vehicle at night to the agreed location, where the injured party AE paid them 1.500 euros, while the remaining amount of the money was to be paid to a third party later," the statement reads.
