Police in northern Montenegro have arrested five people who are listed as persons of operational interest in their records, and three people with national wanted lists have also been arrested.
Nine vehicles were seized, three firearms, 330 rounds of ammunition of various types and calibers, opiate pills and other items were found.

"Officers of the Regional Security Center 'North' have implemented planned enhanced measures and activities to prevent the commission of criminal offenses, locate and detain persons wanted at the national and international level, control persons of operational interest and those connected to them, detect, prevent and suppress criminal offenses with elements of violence, and find and seize weapons in the illegal possession of citizens," the Police Directorate announced.
The Bijelo Polje police, in cooperation with officers of the Special Police Department, arrested Enis Kajević, who is suspected of the criminal offense of creating a criminal organization and the continued criminal offense of smuggling.
Acting on a decision of the Basic Court in Bijelo Polje, and in connection with the financial investigation of Branislav Mrdak, three cars, a Fiat, a Smart and a Volkswagen, were temporarily seized from him.
Searches were also conducted in Bijelo Polje at three locations, and on that occasion, a 7.92 millimeter rifle and 70 rounds of ammunition, in illegal possession, were found in the residence of Šefkija Beganović, in the town of Rasovo.
Upon the order of the state prosecutor at the Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Bijelo Polje, after the expert examination, criminal charges will be filed against Š.B. on suspicion of committing the criminal offense of illegal possession and carrying of weapons and explosives.
The police announced that, during intensified activities to control people and vehicles, one vehicle was seized in Bijelo Polje for further checks.
The Berane police arrested Njegoš Korac (27), who is listed in the police records as an operative, for whom a national arrest warrant was issued pursuant to an order of the Higher Court in Bijelo Polje.
Žarko Šćekić (28), for whom a national arrest warrant was also issued, was also arrested in that city.
Due to refusal to be tested for the presence of psychoactive substances in the body, persons of operational interest were arrested - Jasmin Piljević (29) and Vaso Raičević (42), as well as VD for the same offense, while MH (25) was arrested for driving under the influence of marijuana.
"A search was carried out of the apartment and other premises at three locations of persons of operational interest, during which the following items were found and seized from the person of operational interest GR: two knives, two pieces of spray with an irritating effect, an air rifle, a gas pistol, two hand-held radios, 250 pieces of ammunition for a gas pistol, 10 pieces of ammunition for small-caliber firearms, firecrackers, an electric stun gun (taser), and four weapons licenses in the name of Ž.R., brother of person GR," the police announced.
A request will be filed against Ž.R. to initiate misdemeanor proceedings pursuant to the Weapons Law, as well as appropriate administrative proceedings with a proposal for the permanent confiscation of the weapon, while in relation to GR, the prosecutor will subsequently declare the qualification of the offense, after conducting expert examinations.
During a check of passengers on a bus from Novi Pazar, 32 Zoloft tablets were found on Almir Ahmetović (31), which are on the list of tablets containing psychoactive substances, without medical documentation. A request was filed against AA to initiate misdemeanor proceedings for committing a misdemeanor under Article 52 of the Law on the Prevention of Drug Abuse.
Five vehicles were temporarily seized in Berane for further checks.
Sead Demić (32) from Rožaje was arrested in that city, a national arrest warrant was issued for him, and his BMW was seized for further checks.
The Rožaje police also arrested ON (25), whose test revealed the presence of marijuana in his body.
Officers from the Kolašin Security Department checked a car with Kolašin license plates, in which were persons of operational interest, brothers Aleksandar (22) and Dejan Radović (22).
The inspection established that the High Court in Bijelo Polje had imposed a ban on them from leaving their place of residence, as criminal proceedings were underway against them for the criminal offense of attempted robbery.
"Person AR was sanctioned in accordance with the Road Traffic Safety Act for driving a vehicle after the expiration of the vehicle license, while the vehicle was seized for inspection," the police say.
The High Court in Bijelo Polje was informed of the incident in order to take further measures and actions in relation to the two individuals.
A search of the apartment and other premises of Đoko Vlahović was also carried out, and on that occasion a CZ M-58 rifle, in illegal possession, and a hand-made pistol were found. By order of the prosecutor, criminal charges will be filed against him on suspicion of committing the criminal offense of illegal possession and carrying of weapons and explosives.
Police in Plav arrested Emil Ćiriković, a person of operational interest, for driving under the influence of cocaine.
"In the territory under the jurisdiction of the Regional Security Center 'North', intensified activities are underway to locate and find operationally interesting persons and members of organized crime groups for whom warrants have been issued, and accordingly, apartments and other premises were entered at eight locations in order to find eight persons for whom international warrants have been issued," the statement reads.
