It is suspected that Veljko Milović (22), who is close to fugitive police officer Ljubo Milović and the Kavača criminal clan, was implementing counter-surveillance measures against police officers.
Police seized his car, a scale for precise measurements, four batteries for surveillance cameras, and three handheld radios from him today.
The Police Directorate (PD) announced that police officers from the Regional Border Police Center Center, in cooperation with Nikšić police officers, today carried out planned operational activities aimed at combating cross-border crime, as well as increased controls of persons and vehicles with the aim of increasing security. On that occasion, they conducted searches at four locations at the residence of three persons and seized one vehicle from a person close to a member of an organized criminal group suspected of implementing counter-surveillance measures.
The UP also said that during the activities, cigarettes placed in illegal circulation, an air rifle, ammunition, weapon frames, hand-held radios, a ballistic vest, and weapon parts were found, while a laptop computer and a Toyota Land Cruiser vehicle were seized for inspection, and that criminal charges have been filed against one person.
"While conducting an intensified control of persons and vehicles on the local road Grahovo - Nudo in the town of Grahovsko Polje, a passenger motor vehicle, a Toyota Land Cruiser, with Podgorica license plates, was controlled, driven by VM (22), a person close to a member of an organized criminal group, who is suspected of implementing counter-surveillance measures against police officers. A detailed inspection of the vehicle, which was determined to be owned by another person, found and temporarily seized a scale for precise measurement, four power batteries for surveillance cameras and three handheld radios. The aforementioned vehicle, whose traffic license had expired and which had improperly tinted windows, was seized from this person for the purpose of conducting additional checks, and misdemeanor warrants were issued for violations of the Road Traffic Safety Act," the UP announced.
The statement adds that the acting state prosecutor, upon completion of official measures and actions and an expert examination of the vehicle, will make a statement on the possible existence of the elements of a criminal offense.
The UP said that during a search of the house and auxiliary facilities of MB (36), who is close to persons of operational interest, a "Norica" air rifle and an electronic device were found and seized.
"At another location, in the business premises of MB, cigarettes of various brands, with Kosovo excise stamps, placed in illegal circulation, were found and seized. By order of the prosecutor at the Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Nikšić, a criminal complaint was filed against MB on suspicion of committing the criminal offense of illicit trade, while in relation to other cases, the prosecutor will subsequently declare the possible legal qualification of the offense, after conducting appropriate expert assessments," the statement reads.
The UP added that during a search of the house and auxiliary facilities of PD (51), who is close to persons of operational interest, 10 pieces of pistol ammunition of unknown caliber, three automatic rifle frames, two rifle grenade attachments and one ballistic vest were found and seized.
"On the order of the acting prosecutor, the necessary information was collected, while the found items will be sent for expert examination, after which the legal qualification of the crime will follow. A search of the house and auxiliary facilities of person MB (28) was also carried out," the UP said.
