Damir Frljučkić (43), a member of the criminal clan of Nikšić resident Radomir Boban Baćović, was arrested yesterday in Spain, on a warrant issued for him by Montenegro, the Police Directorate officially announced to "Vijesti".
Baćović allegedly took over the Škaljari clan in the second half of 2022.
"Yesterday in the Kingdom of Spain, police officers located and arrested Montenegrin citizen DF (43), for whom Montenegro had issued an international arrest warrant for several criminal offenses. By conducting targeted search measures, officers of the FAST team of the NCB Interpol Podgorica, through intensive international police cooperation with the targeted search teams of regional countries and the Kingdom of Spain, located this person in a coordinated international action, after which he was arrested in Barcelona by the Spanish FAST unit. The competent authorities were searching for DF at the international level in accordance with the Interpol arrest warrant issued at the request of the Montenegrin judicial authorities in order to ensure the presence of the named person in the criminal proceedings being conducted against him for the criminal offenses of creating a criminal organization and unauthorized production, possession and distribution of narcotic drugs. In the operational records of the Police Directorate, he is recorded as a member of an organized criminal group," the UP said.
The Police Directorate added that, by undertaking intensive targeted search measures for members of organized crime groups and perpetrators of serious crimes, they are undertaking planned, comprehensive and continuous activities aimed at locating and detaining the most wanted persons who are the subject of international searches, thus suppressing the activities of organized crime groups and contributing to the stability of the security environment in the country and the region.
"Through the partnership relationship, the NCB of Interpol Podgorica continues to communicate with foreign partners and in the coming period, as before, the focus will be on highly positioned members of organized crime groups for whom Montenegro has issued international arrest warrants," they said.
The Special State Prosecutor's Office suspects Baćović of organizing a criminal group that has been smuggling drugs for the past decade. In early April, alleged members of that clan, Danilovgrad residents Miloš Lalević and Igor Vujošević, were arrested in Montenegro. The criminal charges then included the fugitives Baćović, Frljučkić, who was arrested yesterday, Subotica resident Alen Hurina, and Podgorica resident Vjekoslav Vjeko Lambulić, who has been in custody in Supca since October 2023.
