Brajuško Brajušković's claim made at the Inquiry Board that Veselin Veljović paid 2.000 euros for the attack and beating of Duško Jovanović and that he allegedly gave the money to Brajušković to hand over to the perpetrators of the attack is not true, Mihailo Volkov, lawyer for the former director of the Police Administration, Veselin Veljović, announced today.
"This is a vile untruth that this ever happened and, incidentally, a false claim made for the first time after so much time has passed since the event. This and similar information has never been announced by anyone in previous statements to the media or competent state bodies. It is clear that after yesterday's denials of Brajušković's statements during the board session itself and the revelation of a well-conceived plan to attempt racketeering and extortion against Veljović by Brajušković and his accomplices, he was obviously revolted by the public embarrassment and reached for yet another false claim in the arsenal of many made to amuse the Montenegrin public. Let this attempt at public embarrassment and compromise serve the author's honor if she still lives somewhere," Volkov emphasized in the statement.
He added that "Veljović will not hide behind the procedural impossibility of initiating proceedings in this regard with the competent prosecutor's office, although a criminal complaint has already been filed under these circumstances and ended with the dismissal of the case, but it would be elementary polite to call as witnesses those persons who can truly contribute to establishing certain facts."
"For now, this seems useless, poorly directed, and in the end, it is more than clear that this is just cheap politics. Certainly, like the false witness Paunović, Mr. Brajušković has earned the status of a defendant in court proceedings with yesterday's nonsense," Volkov said.
Former member of the Special Anti-Terrorist Unit, Brajuško Brajušković, said yesterday at a session of the Inquiry Committee of the Parliament of Montenegro that Veljović gave him 2.000 euros to take to Slavko Đurović and Marko Kalezić for beating up the editor-in-chief of the daily newspaper "Dan" Duško Jovanović.
