Biljana Bošković, who was wounded by her neighbor BV in a shooting in Stara Varoš on April 25, reacted to an article published at the time on the Vijesti portal and denied that it was a neighborly quarrel.
"The Police Directorate's report clearly states that "a neighborly quarrel is suspected", but your media outlet omitted the word "suspect" and thus presented the claim as a fact. I hereby emphasize that there was no quarrel, argument or conflict between me and the attacker, neither that day nor before. The attacker had previously spent some time in the Special Psychiatric Hospital "Dobrota" Kotor, which his family confirms. The attack was completely random and without any reason.
When I left my house on April 25, 2025 at around 20:45 p.m., the attacker was standing on the street with a gun in his hand and suddenly, without warning, without a single word spoken, he started shooting at me. He fired four bullets, each of which hit me. This moment was recorded on a video that was later released to the public and on social media, which further confirms that there was no prior argument or conflict. Upon the arrival of the police, the attacker BV committed suicide by hanging himself in his home. Two hours after the attack, when I was able to speak at the Emergency Center, I gave a statement to the police about what exactly happened. I clearly stated that there was no argument, argument or conflict between me and BV, but my statement did not appear in the media.
After leaving the hospital, in addition to the physical and psychological consequences of the attack, I have been further shocked and stressed by comments from those around me, who are guided by the incorrect headline of your media outlet and believe that I was in an argument with the attacker. This incorrect information is damaging my reputation and further hindering my recovery. Because of all of the above, I demand that the incorrect statement in the published article be corrected as soon as possible and that the public be informed about the real circumstances of this tragic event.
"I believe that it is the responsibility of every media outlet to report accurately and professionally, especially in such sensitive situations," Bošković said in his response.
