Priest of the Serbian Orthodox Church Mijalo Backović from Tivat filed a lawsuit with the Basic Court in Kotor against the Ministry of Culture and Media and the state for compensation for non-pecuniary damage due to violation of personal rights - the right to psychological integrity, honor, reputation and dignity, due to texts and articles published in the summer of 2020 on the Udar portal.

This was confirmed by the spokesperson of the Basic Court in Kotor, a judge, to "Vijesta". Veljko Bulatović, stating that Backović filed a lawsuit seeking damages in the amount of 5.000 euros.

As he stated, the case was assigned to the judge Ksenija Baljevic, which will schedule a preparatory hearing after responding to the lawsuit.

Backović's legal representative, lawyer Nikola Angelovski, called on the Government of Montenegro to initiate “judicial and extrajudicial settlements with the victims of the shameful and shameless portal 'Udar'”.

"If they don't do that, that will say enough about them and what values they stand for," said the lawyer.

Backović's lawsuit, signed by Angelovski, recalls that starting from July 10, 2020, the electronic publication www.udar.me was registered on the national internet domain of Montenegro (.me).

“After the launch of the website 'Udar.me', in its alleged mission of publishing closely guarded truths and secrets, the publication of materials began that were not supported by any, especially relevant sources, facts and data... On this portal, on August 14, 2020, in a video with a picture of Mijajlo Backović, it was announced that he was born in 1979, that his code name was 'Paratrooper' and that his operational link was Darko Milanovic who permanently resides in Belgrade," the lawsuit states, adding that the disputed post was available to an unlimited number of internet users, and that "the published content incited hatred and discrimination against."

In his lawsuit, Anglevoski recalls that the last text published on the "Udar.me" portal was on August 30, 2020, the day of the parliamentary elections, and that the target of that online publication was numerous figures from the world of politics, culture, the Serbian Orthodox Church, the media, etc.

The Podgorica High Court recently upheld the Basic Court's verdict in a case brought by Serbian Orthodox Church (SPC) priest Gojko Perović against the state because he was the target of the "Udar" portal. The dispute with the state was also won by journalists from "Vijesti" Siniša Luković i Vuk Lajović, politician Velizar Kaluđerović, former military officer Vlado Bulatović.
