Two people were arrested in an operation conducted on the Montenegrin coast by police officers from the Regional Security Center "South", together with police officers from the Border Police Sector, as well as members of the Special Police Unit, and in cooperation with officers from the Inspection Affairs Directorate, who controlled several catering establishments, 559 people, including persons of operational interest and those connected to them, the Police Directorate announced.

One person was arrested in Budva, and the other in Ulcinj.

In Budva, police officers inspected four beach bars and seized a small amount of cocaine and two sprays with an irritating effect.

"Person DV (29) from Switzerland was arrested for a violation of the Drug Abuse Prevention Act, while one person was issued a misdemeanor warrant for not possessing an ID card. A total of 97 people were checked," the police said in a statement.

Police in Ulcinj controlled three catering facilities and 300 people, five of whom were of operational interest, the Police Directorate added.

"During a person control of MV (34), a citizen of the Republic of Serbia, on a beach in Ulcinj, officers of the Ulcinj Security Department found a small amount of the narcotic drug marijuana and she was deprived of her liberty for a violation of the Law on the Prevention of Drug Abuse," the statement said.

The Herceg Novi police, together with the border police and the Directorate for Inspection Affairs, inspected four catering facilities, i.e. beach bars, as well as 50 people. One minor was found consuming alcoholic beverages and further activities are being undertaken in relation to the responsible legal entity, the police said.

The Kotor police checked a total of 52 people, five of whom were of operational interest, while the Bar police checked a total of 60 people, eight of whom were of operational interest. Of that number, one person was prosecuted for a violation of the Road Traffic Safety Law, the statement said.

"Officers of the Police Directorate continue with intensive, planned activities to protect citizens and tourists, preserve public order, and suppress all forms of crime and misdemeanors. Special focus remains on tourist centers, where the security situation is particularly sensitive due to the increased number of visitors during the summer tourist season," the Police Directorate concluded.
