The Council of the Supreme Court of Montenegro has decided to extend the detention of Jagoš Lekić and Vasko Martinović, suspects of multiple thefts in the territories of the Danilovgrad and Podgorica municipalities, for another two months.
The Council decided on the proposal of the Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Podgorica dated July 10, 2025, and the defendants' detention was extended due to reasonable suspicion that they committed the extended criminal offense of aggravated theft, according to a statement from the Supreme Court.
As stated, the defendants' detention was extended because there are circumstances indicating that they will repeat the crime.
"The detention of the defendants JL and MV was ordered by the Decision of the investigating judge of the Basic Court in Podgorica on April 22, 2024, and extended by the Decision of the council of that court on June 17, 2025, so that according to the Decision of the Supreme Court of Montenegro, the detention may last until September 20, 2025," the Supreme Court concluded in a statement.
