Podgorica resident arrested for domestic violence and illegal possession of weapons

Police officers arrested ZM from Podgorica on suspicion of committing the crimes of domestic violence and illegal possession of weapons and explosives.

The police said that officers from the Podgorica Security Department acted on a telephone report from the injured party that verbal and physical contact had occurred between her and her husband.

"When a police patrol arrived at the residence, the injured party was found, while her husband, the reported ZM, was not found," the statement says.

It is alleged that police officers found a Beretta pistol with seven rounds of ammunition in ZM's purse, which, after checking through records, was determined to be in illegal possession.

"After a local search was launched for ZM, on the order of the state prosecutor at the Basic State Prosecutor's Office, he was arrested on suspicion of committing the criminal offense of domestic violence or family violence in conjunction with the illegal possession and carrying of weapons and explosives," the police said.
