Court of Appeal: Bigović fell ill during trial in Šćekić murder case

One of the defendants in the murder of police inspector Slavoljub Šćekić, Ljubo Bigović, fell ill today during his trial at the Court of Appeal, the court announced.

The statement states that in the continuation of the trial in the Šćekić murder case, the presentation of closing arguments has continued.

The Court of Appeals said that closing arguments were presented today by the defense attorney for the accused Bigović and Milan Šćekić and the defense attorney for the accused Ljubo Vujadinović.

"During the trial, the accused Bigović fell ill and was provided with emergency medical assistance on the spot, after which he was referred for further medical assistance to the Clinical Center of Montenegro. The continuation of the presentation of closing arguments is scheduled for Monday, July 21.07.2025, XNUMX," the statement reads.

The trial for the murder of Šćekić continued before the Court of Appeal yesterday.

Defendant Saša Boreta denied guilt in his closing arguments yesterday, while his defense is challenging key evidence - the testimony of a protected witness.

The family of the murdered inspector is reacting sharply to such claims, calling them an attempt to change the thesis.

The trial for the murder of Šćekić before the Appellate Court panel has started again after the Constitutional Court overturned the verdict that sentenced Ljubo Bigović, Saša Boreta, Milan Šćekić and Ljubo Vujadinović to 30 years in prison for the murder of Šćekić, and the now deceased Alan Kožar to six years and ten months for setting off three explosions at the construction site of the "Splendid" hotel in Bečići.

According to the abrogated verdict, the accused Milan Šćekić and Vujadinović killed a police inspector on August 30, 2005, and Boreta and Bigović incited them to that crime. According to the abrogated verdict, they did this because the police officer Šćekić was on their trail leading the investigation into attempted extortion and a series of bomb attacks on the then construction site of the "Splendid" hotel.
