Arjan Rečković from Podgorica is suspected of killing fellow citizen Igor Nedović with 16 bullets on July 15 in Stara Varoša, Podgorica.
The police have not yet arrested the suspect who fled towards the Morača Riverbed after the murder.
Rečković is also suspected of having wounded Nedović in the stomach with three bullets in May.
Nedović (29) succumbed to his injuries on July 16 at the Clinical Center in Podgorica, after being previously wounded by gunfire in Stara Varoš.
According to unofficial information from Vijesti, he was shot with an automatic weapon while standing in front of his house and talking to a friend who was on a motorcycle.
The same source claims that a male person then ran up and fired 15 shots.
"The attacker approached them from behind while they were talking, they didn't even notice him. After he opened fire, the motorcyclist fell off his motorcycle and ran away... He only shot at Nedović," said the source for Vijesti.
According to police data, Nedović was close to the Kavača criminal clan.
"By undertaking numerous operational, tactical, technical, forensic and evidentiary measures and actions in coordination with the Higher State Prosecutor's Office, police officers quickly identified the perpetrator of this serious criminal offense, namely AR (23) from Podgorica. There is a reasonable suspicion that on July 16, using a firearm - a pistol, AR fired several projectiles in the direction of IN, in the immediate vicinity of his family home, where on that occasion, by taking action, he also endangered the life of another person who was next to the deceased, after which the perpetrator AR fled in an unknown direction. Due to the injuries sustained, IN succumbed to his injuries at the Clinical Center of Montenegro after receiving medical assistance," the Police Directorate (PD) announced.
The statement added that by undertaking investigative measures and actions in intensive cooperation with the Higher State Prosecutor's Office in Podgorica, evidence was obtained that reasonably points to the suspicion that Rečković committed the criminal offense of aggravated murder and the criminal offense of illegal carrying and possession of weapons and explosives.
"Police officers of the Regional Security Center "Center", upon the order of the State Prosecutor, will file a criminal report with the Senior State Prosecutor against the suspect AR for the criminal offense of aggravated murder that he is charged with. Police officers are taking intensive measures and actions aimed at locating and detaining the suspect AR. The public will be informed in a timely manner about all further measures and actions taken. At the same time, we inform the public that all murders committed this year have been solved and that intensive activities are being undertaken to locate and detain suspects who have not been deprived of their liberty," the UP said.
