Citizens have surrendered 3.757 weapons since the beginning of the year

Since the beginning of the year, Montenegrin citizens have voluntarily surrendered 3.757 weapons, 126.170 pieces of ammunition, 424 hand grenades and several hundred parts of weapons and explosive devices, the Police Directorate announced.

The weapons and ammunition were returned as part of the "Respect life, return weapons" campaign.

Police said that, in the past 13 days, 22 weapons, 2.558 pieces of ammunition, three hand grenades, a fuse and weapon parts have been voluntarily surrendered in municipalities across Montenegro.

"In the territory under the jurisdiction of the Regional Security Center (RCB) Center, citizens voluntarily surrendered six weapons to the police, of which three pistols and three rifles, 359 pieces of ammunition, quick-burning and slow-burning fuses," the statement said.

It is stated that seven weapons were voluntarily surrendered to RCB Jug officers, including four rifles and three pistols, 2.091 rounds of ammunition, one hand grenade, and one gun frame.

The police said that, in the territory of RCB North, two weapons were voluntarily surrendered - a rifle and a pistol, an optical sight and two hand grenades.

They said that seven firearms, two of which were pistols and five rifles, as well as 108 rounds of ammunition, were voluntarily surrendered to RCB West officers.

"The Police Directorate thanks citizens for their continued and responsible attitude towards personal and collective security and calls on them to take advantage of the opportunity to voluntarily return weapons without legal consequences," the statement said.
