The Council of the Supreme Court of Montenegro extended the detention for three months each for Mihailo Čolović from Aranđelovac and Dragan Ilić from Kragujevac, who are suspected of the murder of Ilija Bogdanović on April 24 this year in Cetinje.
"The Council of the Supreme Court of Montenegro, deciding on the proposal of the Higher State Prosecutor's Office in Podgorica dated July 21, 2025, to extend the detention of the defendants M.Č. and DI, issued a Decision to extend the detention of the defendants for another three months, i.e. until October 24, 2025. The detention of the defendants M.Č. and DI was extended due to reasonable suspicion that they committed the criminal offense of aggravated murder in conjunction with the criminal offense of illegal possession and carrying of weapons and explosives. The defendants are charged with having deprived the life of IB on April 24, 2025, at around 00,21:XNUMX, in Cetinje, and thereby endangered the life of TB," the Supreme Court statement states.
The statement added that the defendants' detention was "extended due to the risk of flight, as well as because they have previously been convicted of serious crimes with elements of violence, as well as crimes against life and limb, which indicates the risk that they, if released, would repeat the crime."
"The defendants' detention was also extended due to the smooth conduct of the proceedings, because these are criminal offenses for which the law can impose a prison sentence of ten years, or a more severe sentence, and which offenses are particularly serious due to the manner of commission and consequences. The defendants M.Č. and DI were detained by a Decision of the investigating judge of the Higher Court in Podgorica on April 30, 2025, and extended by a Decision of the council of that court on May 23, 2025, so that according to the Decision of the Supreme Court of Montenegro, the detention can last until October 24, 2025," the Supreme Court said.
Čolović and Ilić were taken to the pre-trial detention center on April 30, after being questioned by the investigating judge of the Higher Court in Podgorica.
