Stevan Kraljević (35) and Đorđe Đukić (26) were arrested in Greece on the basis of an arrest warrant issued by the Interpol NCB Podgorica.
According to police records, the two are members of the Kavača criminal clan.
"Taking measures and actions to locate and detain internationally wanted persons for whom the Interpol NCB Podgorica has issued international arrest warrants, police officers of the Republic of Greece today detained Montenegrin citizens SK (35) and Đ.Đ. (26), high-ranking members of an organized criminal group from Montenegro, based on information obtained as a result of a long-term targeted search by the Interpol NCB Podgorica, foreign partners and the Greek police," the Police Directorate announced.
It is added that police officers from the Interpol NCB Podgorica, through "thorough planning and implementation of comprehensive operational and intelligence activities", came to know that Kraljević and Đukić possessed and used false personal documents from countries in the region.
"These activities resulted in the exchange of information with colleagues from the Republic of Greece and the targeted location and deprivation of liberty of SK and Đ.Đ. on the territory of that country, where it was determined that they were hiding under false identities and using the aforementioned false documents," the police announced.
An Interpol red notice was issued for Kraljević to ensure his presence in criminal proceedings being conducted against him before the High Court in Podgorica on suspicion of having committed criminal offenses. creation of a criminal organization and aggravated murder, the police said.
