The Higher Court in Bijelo Polje confirmed last month the indictment against Balijagić for the murder of his sister and brother, Milenka and Jovan Madžgalj, on October 25th of last year, in the Bijelo Polje village of Sokolac.
The proceedings against the police officers, who are charged with the criminal offense of negligent performance of duty, were initiated upon a report by Velibor Madžgalj, brother of the murdered Jovan and Milenka.
The Prosecutor's Office dismissed criminal charges against four of the six police officers of the Bijelo Polje Security Department against whom Madžgalj filed criminal charges.
Balijagić will be tried for aggravated murder in a treacherous manner, in conjunction with illegal possession of a weapon, and faces a sentence of 40 years in prison.
He confessed to the crime before the prosecutor and at the indictment hearing. He was arrested near Priboj in Serbia, after almost a month on the run and an extensive police search in Montenegro and Serbia.
