The Women's Rights Center announced that she passed away two days ago. Alma Ćosović, who was beaten by Dušan Ramić in mid-June, in the presence of her minor child.
"Alma died as a result of severe injuries sustained in the attack. She spent more than a month in a coma, with no public information about her health condition, and her death was not reported in the media. Alma left behind three minor children," the Women's Rights Center wrote in a Facebook post.
"The Women's Rights Center expects a decisive response from the judiciary to this crime, which will ensure that the perpetrator is adequately prosecuted and punished in accordance with the severity of the crime," the announcement reads.
They add that this femicide is yet another confirmation that women in Montenegro are exposed to extreme violence, and that the state's response is nowhere near the legally prescribed standards.
"We expect the state to take care of the children of victims of femicide and to enact a law that requires them to care for their well-being, education, and health," the Women's Rights Center said.
