Dušan Ramić, who is suspected of beating Alma Ćosović, who died as a result of her injuries, was brought in for questioning at the Higher State Prosecutor's Office (VDT) this morning, the head of the VDT, Lepa Medenica, confirmed to "Vijesti".
She said that Ramić had already been detained by the Basic State Prosecutor's Office on the order of the Basic Court, but that the State Prosecutor's Office would issue an order to extend the detention.
Medenica told "Vijesti" that an order to conduct an investigation is being prepared.
Ramić refused to present a defense during the hearing.
Ćosović passed away on August 3rd.
The public learned about the case thanks to a report by the Center for Women's Rights (CŽP), which stated that Ramić beat Ćosović in front of her minor child. The CŽP also reported that Ćosović had spent more than a month in a coma, with no public information about her health. Ćosović left behind three minor children.
The Police Directorate (PD) announced on June 11 that DR, a Serbian citizen, was arrested in Podgorica and charged with the criminal offense of violence in the family or family community resulting in serious bodily injury, in conjunction with the criminal offense of facilitating the consumption of narcotic drugs, to the detriment of AV.
A request was also filed to initiate misdemeanor proceedings for neglecting the child of AV's partner, under Article 37 of the Law on Protection from Domestic Violence.
