Five more people prosecuted for attacks on journalists from "Vijesti" and "Pobjeda"

The Police Directorate announced that the prosecution has processed five more people for attacks on journalists from "Vijesti" and "Pobjeda" in Gornji Zaostar near Berane.

After identification, the Berane police took statements from DL (47), DP (28), VD (20) and two minors aged 15 and 17, who were then referred to the Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Berane.

The competent prosecutor, after the hearing, stated that the actions of these individuals do not constitute the elements of a criminal offense that is prosecuted ex officio, but rather the elements of a misdemeanor, the statement reads.

The Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Berane informed the local police that the prosecutor's office will file requests with the competent misdemeanor court to initiate misdemeanor proceedings against DL, DP, VD and two minors for committing misdemeanors under Article 7 of the Law on Public Order and Peace - insulting and insolent behavior.

Also, FC (18) was identified as the person who damaged the camera owned by the photojournalist with a glass bottle.

FC will be brought before the state prosecutor in Berane today, who will decide on the qualification of the crime after the hearing.

"Previously, within the framework of the aforementioned activities, DF and VS were deprived of their liberty for the criminal offense of endangering security, as well as VR for a violation of the Law on Public Order and Peace. Officers of the Berane Security Department and the Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Berane have processed a total of eight persons in their activities so far, two of whom were criminally charged and six were misdemeanors. Officers of the Police Directorate, in cooperation with the prosecutor's office, are continuing with comprehensive activities in relation to this event," the statement reads.
