Over the past weekend, the police carried out increased activities within their jurisdiction in the area of public order, as well as in the area of traffic control and regulation, and the control of persons of operational interest (OIL), as well as increased control of minors, taking into account the security challenges faced by school-age children and minors, as well as the obligation to protect them as a vulnerable category of persons, the Police Directorate (PD) announced today.
The statement added that over 150 catering establishments, more than 1.000 vehicles and drivers, and 50 OILs were controlled throughout the country.
"By carrying out planned preventive activities to control operationally interesting persons and members of organized crime groups and their stay in catering establishments, as well as increased controls with the aim of maintaining stable public order, road traffic safety, preventing the commission of criminal offenses and misdemeanors, finding perpetrators of criminal offenses, as well as objects originating from a criminal offense or that can be used to commit it, officers of the regional security centers 'Center', 'West', 'North' and 'South' conducted regional operations 'Youth', 'Raid', 'Table' and 'Foliage' during the previous weekend. As part of the aforementioned operations, police officers arrested 55 drivers, filed 205 misdemeanor reports and issued 1.615 misdemeanor warrants for road traffic violations, and temporarily confiscated 24 pairs of license plates," the statement said.
The Police Department added that as part of the "Mladost" operation aimed at controlling the serving of alcohol to minors, 147 catering establishments, as well as 47 gambling establishments, were inspected.
"On this occasion, the police found a minor consuming alcoholic beverages and the person responsible was sanctioned in relation to this event. When it comes to minors and their protection, as a particularly vulnerable category, the Police Directorate appeals to parents to take appropriate measures to supervise their minor children and their movements, which is the legal obligation of parents - guardians, especially in terms of preventing their harmful behavior, thereby directly contributing to increasing personal and general safety, as well as the health of the minors themselves," the statement reads.
The Police Department said that during these police activities, targeted inspections of 16 catering establishments were also carried out.
"50 persons of operational interest were checked. Five persons were prosecuted for undeclared residence, while during controls and inspections during police operations in this area, a small quantity of narcotics was found and seized, in relation to which appropriate proceedings will be initiated against the responsible persons," the UP said.
The statement also states that officers from regional security centers in the field of traffic control and regulation and operations "Tablica" and "Folija" checked 915 vehicles and drivers, and on that occasion filed two misdemeanor reports and issued 117 misdemeanor warrants, temporarily confiscated 17 pairs of license plates and excluded 31 vehicles from traffic in accordance with the Law on Road Traffic Safety, and sent 10 vehicles for technical inspection.
