"In the continuation of the case codenamed 'Kayak', officers of the Regional Security Center 'Centar', the Podgorica Security Department, in cooperation with water inspectors, in order to combat environmental crime, with the coordination of the prosecutor at the Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Podgorica, filed a criminal complaint against two more persons for the exploitation of river sediment. It is suspected that the criminal offense of unauthorized exploitation and damage during the exploitation of river sediment was committed by AS (54) and IS (28) in the place of Šarike, in the immediate vicinity of the road to the Bolje sestre Water Source, on a cadastral plot classified as a class VI forest - state land, they excavated gravel material, using a working machine - an excavator, which they then appropriated by loading the material in question into a truck, in order to obtain unlawful material gain," the UP said.

The statement added that through this case, in cooperation with officials of the Regional Water Supply Company - Montenegrin Coast, and in accordance with the defined priorities of the Bureau for Operational Coordination in the Fight against Environmental Crime, on August 17, D.Ć. (40), AK (45), DR (26) and SR (48) were prosecuted for the same criminal offense, who were found near the Morača riverbed in the town of Mitrovići in Zeta during the illegal exploitation of gravel with a machine, after which they loaded the gravel into a truck for its further exploitation.

"This action clearly demonstrates the commitment and determination of the competent institutions in the fight against environmental destruction and illegal use of Montenegro's natural resources. Every attempt at environmental crime will be discovered and strictly sanctioned, without exception," the UP said.
